UNLOCKED creatives was founded in 2025 by architects Simon Hirtz and Stephan Laub. Our mission is to explore and develop genuinely useful, visually-driven high-quality generative tools. As architects and designers ourselves, our primary focus is next gen AI for architecture and design — though our work also extends into related fields such as culture, art, and creative content & expression. We hereby present a small excerpt of our recent work, based on over two years of research & collaboration in the field of generative AI.

AI is here to stay — but to become truly valuable, it requires careful curation and thoughtful integration of content within its data models. It furthermore needs a sensitive approach towards its economical application into conventional workflows. This contrasts sharply with the flood of generic AI applications currently populating the web. We offer custom AI tools and AI Visual Services, to emphasize real-world usability. Our goal is to create customized AI solutions that bring powerful tools for ideation and visual communication into the hands of architects and designers.

Here, we show how rough sketches — whether analog or digital — can be transformed into refined, high-quality visuals.

Our method ensures consistency in style, lighting, and materiality.

Starting from minimal black-and-white sketches, we generate full-scene renderings with atmospheric depth and detail.

Using curated references and prompt tuning, we ensure realism while preserving the essence of the original design.

Minor imperfections can be corrected using AI-based enhancement and inpainting.

EDIT, INSERT, REMOVE - WITH FULL VISUAL CONTROL

Editing AI-generated images requires precision. We’ve developed methods that allow us to add, remove, or reposition elements — from furniture to lighting, atmosphere, or materials — all with fine control over scale, orientation, and context.

Using regional prompting and reference images, we can adjust seasons, times of day, and image style with high accuracy.But the real magic happens after generation:
We refine, enhance, upscale (4K, 8K, 16K+), and apply style transfers — either creatively hallucinated or precisely grounded. Layer by layer, any visual direction becomes possible — from architectural realism to expressive artwork.

After months of development, we’ve overcome many limitations of typical AI systems, making our outputs more accurate, consistent, and visually grounded.This is just the beginning: a step toward truly controllable, AI-driven design with architectural intent at its core.

More and more architects and designers want to handle visualization tasks themselves — to save time, stay flexible, and retain full control over the outcome. We’ve developed multi-step AI workflows that transform basic 3D screenshots or editor exports into fully rendered scenes — with detailed control over style, materials, and atmosphere.

This isn’t a one-click solution, but it’s fast, efficient, and far more adaptable than traditional rendering pipelines. The examples below show how low-fidelity images can evolve into high-quality, presentation-ready visuals within minutes — rendered in 4K or higher.

REIMAGINE SEASONAL MOODS USING REFERENCE IMAGES

Change the season of any rendering or photograph — without re-rendering or post-production. With our method, we can shift a project from summer to winter, or place it in a blooming spring or a foggy autumn mood. Using reference images, we fine-tune light, color, and atmosphere while keeping the original geometry and context intact. We’re not limited to four seasons — any visual tone or time of year can be recreated, precisely and consistently.

We visualized several indoor and outdoor perspectives. The base was a CAD/BIM model, from which we took simple screenshots as input. Everything else, the lighting, realistic materials for all surfaces, exterior surroundings including vegetation, and the sky, was iteratively generated using our AI workflows. As options and to provide more flexibility in presentation, we also created several non-realistic style variations.

From a simple BIM export, we created a series of visual styles — from loose hand-drawn lines to shaded sketches and colored illustrations.Each version serves a different phase of the project: early concepts, design development, or sales.These styles aren’t just aesthetic — they help tell the story behind the architecture. And when needed, they can evolve into fully rendered scenes or animated presentations.

Any image — whether renders, sketches, or photos — can be transformed into animated sequences in virtually any style.

These animations are ideal for reels, websites, real estate marketing or presentations — without the high cost and complexity of traditional rendering or video production. Everything can be post-edited like real video footage (Premiere, After Effects, etc.).
